Ever wondered how the Grainful flavors are chosen? Lots and lots of taste tests of course! This includes the whole Grainful team but also the local Ithaca, NY community. Living in the same town as the Grainful headquarters has its perks! Locals get to test the new flavors and give feedback.
"We are fortunate enough to have business partners in the local community where we can test out new flavors before they hit the national market. The test market allows us to gather data from a small pool of consumers and get feedback on each entree," Chef Sacco said.
As of now these exclusive flavors are available in P&C Fresh and Lansing Market, in the Cayuga Medical Center and at the Finger Lakes School of Massage. Each box has a sticker that links to a survey so that Grainful can hear your thoughts.
It is a really great way for the community to get involved with Grainful and to interact with new flavors before they hit the market.
"We use the data to make decisions on whether an entree is viable for the national market. For example- flavor profile, consistency, nutrition facts- all these play a key role in whether an entree can pass the test and be manufactured for everyone to enjoy," Chef Sacco said.
The first and only flavor to be placed in the test market as of now is Cheddar Broccoli. It is a great healthy take on your comfort food cravings. It combines organic sharp cheese, broccoli and steel cut oats to warm you right up.
Three more flavors will soon be available to the test market, including: White Bean, Chicken & Kale, Tomato, Eggplant & Mozzarella, and Chana Masala. If those don't have your stomach growling...
White Bean, Chicken & Kale is Grainful's newest Mediterranean creation. Its got white beans stewed with garlic, white wine, lemon juice mixed with chicken, Kalamata olives, tomatoes, kale and of course wholesome steel cut oats to make a dish that can really do no wrong.
Tomato, Eggplant & Mozzarella
This Italian favorite was a must to try on the test market. It is a twist on the classic eggplant parmesan with all the same ingredients as your grandmother used but with the addition of yummy steel cut oats and more of an emphasis on healthiness to keep your waistline in check!
Chana Masala grants a new take on a popular Indian Cuisine. The main ingredient is chickpeas. It also has steel cut oats and stewed tomatoes mixed in with aromatic Indian garam masala which is a blend of cumin, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. Expect a bit of heat from the chili peppers but also a slightly sour note from lemon juice.
Grainful is always adding new flavors to the test market so keep your eyes peeled!
